Having spent the night in Laramie, Wyoming, the next morning I proceeded with my journey through Montana. While driving, I noticed the temperature dropping and noticed snowflakes falling. Despite it being May, I was prepared for the chance of facing a late winter storm in Montana.
Further along, I encountered a traffic delay up ahead, where a state patrol officer was diverting traffic towards the town of Livingston, Montana. Some of us asked why we couldn't continue.
The officer explained that there had been a multiple-vehicle accident, resulting in a semi-truck overturning and causing fatalities. He advised us to secure a hotel room in town before they were fully booked.
Upon entering town, I stopped at a gas station where they recommended booking a room online for the best availability. Following their advice, I used my phone to reserve a room at a hotel called the Murray.
After making my reservation and receiving confirmation, I felt relieved. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly.
While waiting in line at the hotel, I heard the couple ahead of me being told that there were no available rooms. However, when it was my turn, the receptionist surprised me by informing me that they did have a room for me.
I recorded a video to show the lady how the elevator still needed to be operated manually, which I thought was a nice touch.
After the lady gave me the key and showed me the room, I commented to her on how spacious the room was for just one person.
If anyone else wants to share the other bed, please let them know. After freshening up, I went to the lobby to see if anyone was interested. However, they declined, probably thinking I might be suspicious in today's world. LOL
After having dinner and a beer, I rested for the night. The next morning, the I-90 was reopened, and I was impressed by how quickly they cleared and maintained the road.
Throughout the day, the roads became increasingly clear.
As I approached the Continental Divide, I was surprised by the amount of snow.
My aim for the day was to make it all the way back home.
I stopped in a town to refuel the car just before crossing over to Idaho.
After driving a few miles, I decided to have lunch in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Sitting at a bench overlooking the lake, I was amazed that within just 24 hours, I was already thinking of changing into a t-shirt and shorts.
After lunch, I set out on a mission to only stop for gas and rest in order to make it back home. By 11:30 PM PST, I was pulling into the driveway. Mission accomplished, and the car is now ready to be handed over to my youngest to finish out his college.
Thank you for following along with me on this journey, starting in Lakeland, Florida, and ending up in Marysville, Washington.
